Salt and Sanctuary is Awaiting For New Adepts on Switch

A Soulslike featuring local co-op, Challenge Modes and more.

Ska Studios’ Soulslike platformer Salt And Sanctuary is now awaiting for new adventures that can live up to its challenge on Switch. Downloaded over 800,000 times, the brutal action game arrives to the Nintendo console thanks to BlitWorks contributing to the port.

As you might have already guessed, the story starts with something horribly involving eldritch beasts and the depths of the sea. As the lone survivor after the slaughter of your pirate crew, you’re left stranded in a strange island. Needless to say, it’s filled with monsters and cursed lands. To make it even worse, you’re baptized as a Saltborn by an old man, introducing you to what’s to come. It’s pretty dark, yeah.

From there, players can create their own character customizing everything from their physical appearance to weapon choice. Do you want to use brute force with the biggest weapon you can find? Or would you rather play more cautiously using spells and element manipulation on your advantage? You can do either by selecting from a total of sixteen weapon types, and unlocking over fifty sets of armor and abilities on a massive skill tree.

You can even tackle the mysteries of the islands and more than the twenty bosses of the game with a friend in local co-op. And even if you’re really skillful, New Game + and Challenge Modes including permadeath await for those who want to truly test their might in the game.

Salt and Sanctuary is available digitally for $17.99 USD on Switch, featuring English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. A special physical edition by Leadman Games called Drowned Tome Edition will be coming to retail this holiday. As always, make sure to visit the official site for more information, and don’t forget to follow the devs on Twitter.
