Stay Awhile and Listen: Book II, a Diablo History Book is now on Kickstarter

Heaven, Hell, and Secret Cow Levels.

The documentary-style book Stay Awhile and Listen: Book II – Heaven, Hell, and Secret Cow Levels by David L. Craddock is now in Kickstarter with a funding goal of $12,000. The second part in the series of nonfiction accounts of the history of Blizzard Entertainment is envisioned to launch in June 2019.

Today, marking the 18th anniversary of Diablo 2’s release, the book enters Kickstarter to introduce the culture behind the development of StarCraft and Diablo II, leading up to the summer of 2003 when Blizzard North co-founders David Brevik, Max and Erich Schaefer were ousted from their company along with roughly two-thirds of their staff. David’s work includes research and interviews with over 50 developers, including “never-before-revealed details on several projects that were cancelled.”

The book will also include details about the mysterious “Project X”, the massively multiplayer rendition of Diablo III and the rise of the cinematics department at Blizzard Entertainment. “At its core, Stay Awhile and Listen: Book II is a story about people”, says the author.

You can read a full chapter on Shacknews for free, with more gaming outlets set to publish chapters as the campaign continues. The backer rewards for Stay Awhile and Listen: Book II include a DRM-free digital copy, a signed paperback with a copy of Book I and a personalized version.

David L.
