SEGA (finally) announced the existence and release date for Catherine Classic on Steam, which got a surprise launch today. After weeks leaving mysterious sheeps in Bayonetta’s community page and invalid keys with a hidden message, PC players can now enjoy Vincent’s puzzle and love madness with a few interesting additions.
Following the same treatment that the Bayonetta and Vanquish ports had last year, Catherine Classic comes packed with a number of goodies and new additions. Starting with the game itself, it includes support for up to 4K, unlocked framerate, the option to rebind keys for both keyboard and mouse, and the Japanese voice-over available as an optional feature.
This edition, if purchased between the first two weeks of release, includes desktop and mobile wallpapers, avatars and soundtrack samples for free available as a deluxe bonus. Catherine Classic is really close to the new version of the game, Catherine Full Body, which will get a release in Japan on Valentine’s Day. In the press release, SEGA stated that the port for the West is “soon to follow”.
I have vague memories of playing the original Catherine on my PS3. The puzzle sequences kept me up at night more times than I would like to admit, and I’m still feeling guilty about accepting a few unsolicited pictures from Katherine. The trivia around drinks was great, too. And the sheeps are weird, so beware.
Catherine Classic is out now on Steam for $19.99 USD.
