All the way from Chihuahua, Mexico, the game studio Lienzo revealed the release dates for Mulaka, an action-adventure game set in the mythology of the northern parts of their country. Steam and PS4 users will be able to play on February 27th, while Switch and Xbox One users will experience the game on March 1st and March 2nd, respectively.
Set around the story of the indigenous Tarahumara people, Mulaka combines fast paced hand-to-hand combat with the ability to turn into different demigods to solve puzzles and explore the land, while also using it as advantage for combat.
Something that really intrigues me is the amazing looking art style, all built in a low-poly visual setting that goes along with the culture and the aesthetic they present perfectly. From the basic UI and symbols, to the design behind the towns, enemies and demigods, everything in Mulaka is interesting and draws inspiration from the culture in the best manner. The soundtrack, thankfully, also takes a big part on the experience, becoming the best companion in our ventures with melodies that resonate the culture.
This in-depth fictional universe around the history and culture of Mexico has already been teased in a series of documentary videos, showcasing The Tarahumara Culture, a look into the The Mythological Creatures and an introduction to The Game itself. All present a great insight an what’s to come in the game, but also, offer different points of view from the developers.
Pre-orders for the game, without regarding a console specifically, are already available. Both from pre-orders and retail purchases of the game, Lienzo has commited to donate a portion of the game’s earnings NGOs that support the region in which the game takes place in.
If you want to know more about the game, make sure to visit Lienzo’s official website or give them a shout and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Twitch.
