Devolver Digital is back with a new game on the works called Katana ZERO, being developed by Askiisoft. In this so-called Neo-Noir experience, you’ll deflect bullets with your sword and manipulate time to become a big show-off while you kill dozens of enemies. And yes, there’s synthwave playing in the background.
This action-platformer rewards style and swiftness above all else, letting you witness exactly where every hit lands. This precision is also present directly in enemies, demanding you to dodge just in time with a quick attack in return to keep the momentum going. But don’t just take my word on it, watch it all in action in the trailer below:
The end of last year got me replaying Mark of the Ninja, a game I really admire for getting me to enjoy stealth. But Katana ZERO is exactly what something along the same lines would look in a frenetic and fast-paced setting.
It will be released on PC and consoles in March this year, and you can already wishlist it on Steam. In the meantime, make sure to follow the devs and Devolver Digital on Twitter for any upcoming news. If you’d excuse me, I’m just gonna sit here and rewatch the trailer a couple more times.
