SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios revealed Project JUDGE, the new IP from the developers behind the Yakuza series that is coming to the West sometime 2019. Two trailers, focusing on Story and Gameplay, showcase a new path for the studio featuring laywers’ disputes, pinball tables and an intense combat system.
Right from the start, Project JUDGE seems to showcase a complex story, filled with strings that involve a lawyer and a case that changes his life completely. In order to uncover the main mystery and many others in between, players will have to become detectives by either using costumes to infiltrate places, searching for clues to create profiles or taking photos of suspects while tailing them.
While there are many new systems being introduced to fit this brand new story (who’s up for another take on lock picking?), the game will be packed with the shenanigans we have grown to love during Kiryu’s adventures. The combat is packed with different styles, but overall, it seems even faster and aggressive, including jumping off from walls to connect kicks and brand new finishing moves.
And don’t worry, mini games are back and ever than ever. These include drone racing, pinball tables and virtual reality arcade games.
There isn’t an official release date for Project JUDGE at the moment, but we can at least expect to see new footage during this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
