MERJ Media announced the release of the rhythm game Floor Kids on Steam, for PC and MAC, today. During launch week, there will be a 15% off discount, and players can save an additional 15% by getting both the game and OST as part of the Floor Kids: Soundtrack Edition.
It’s all about showcasing your best breakdancing moves and dancing styles in different locations. A total of 8 unique characters, each with 16 moves and over 100 transitions between them, will be challenged with a dynamic score system that rewards musicality, originality, and most importantly, style.
The idea for Floor Kids began in 2007, when the animator and former bboy JonJon teamed up with the scratch DJ and producer Kid Koala to create a series of short animated films, for both online and live audiences during Koala’s concerts. Seven years later, the creators joined forces with Envision and Hololabs to create the game.
Along with the catchy soundtrack, it’s the visual style that really gets me. It’s almost reminiscent to some animated show you could find in MTV during the early 90s, and the fact that everything is hand-drawn makes it even more impressive.
Floor Kids features a single-player story mode, and you can also battle against a friend (or foe) in two-player breakdance battles. Freestyling is always encouraged, so don’t be affraid to experiment on the dance floor.
The game will be 15% off during launch week for PC & MAC at $19,99 USD, and can found on Steam. Make sure to visit the official site for more information, and don’t forget to follow the studio on Twitter.
