The Banner Saga, a tactical RPG set in a fictional Norse Mythology universe, is sailing to Switch on May 17. While the sequel doesn’t have a release date, The Banner Saga 3 will be released July 24 on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch.
A special physical edition called The Banner Saga: Bonus Edition, including the three entries of the series, an artbook and soundtrack, will be available for PS4 and Xbox One. Six years have passed since the succesful Kickstarter campaign that let gave start to this trilogy, and we are only weeks away from diving into the final chapter.
Stoic Studio and Versus Evil announced the ports for The Banner Saga on Switch during the Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase Spring 2018 ahead of the release for the final entry. For those who aren’t aware of, the game sets you in control of a caravan throughout beautiful hand-drawn landscapes while you travel the world escaping of an ancient reemerging threat. The gods are long gone, and an eclipse is slowly reaching out to the sun, as a signal of an ever ending winter.
All the choices you make in your travels will affect the story, both for your crew morale and the characters who are controlled for combat. The Banner Saga introduces a simple to engage tactical combat with a lot of depth and strategy involved, increasing the challenge as the story progresses. Both the soundtrack and the beautiful art style makes it a very compelling game to experience, but it’s the narrative that made this series a success.
The game is already available for pre-order on the eShop while The Banner Saga 3 can also be pre-ordered on both Steam and GOG. Make sure to visit the official site for more information and don’t forget to follow the developers on their Twitter.
