Phantom Doctrine Brings X-COM Style Spy Operations on August 14

Can you say brainwashing?

CreativeForge, the minds behind Hard West and Good Shepherd Entertainment are releasing Phantom Doctrine on August 14 for Windows PC and PS4, while the Xbox One version has been delayed to the 24th.

If you ever dreamed about managing your own spy secret agency, then this might be your lucky day. Phantom Doctrine introduces itself as a real-time strategy game with some resemblance to the recent XCOM games: creating your own squad from scratch, being a part of both the inside and out of each operation and managing different teams towards a set of goals, with the primary being to try to get back most of them alive after a mission.

Set in the peak of the Cold War, players will be able to recruit members from both the KGB and the CIA, spend some time in preparations prior each investigation, and research all kind of new tools and ways to infiltrate in each operation ahead, such as brainwashing, interrogations, body engineering and much more. It seems to be a very complex game, and aside a +40 hours story campaign, there’s a multiplayer mode to fight against friends or foes online in 1v1 skirmishes.

Phantom Doctrine is the reinvention after the studio’s previous strategy game Hard West, which mixed demons in a western setting, onto a complex and sophisticated experience for those keen to the genre.
