Team 17 and Villa Gorilla have release Yoku’s Island Express today on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch. Featuring a small beetle, a ball and many bumpers, Yoku introduces us to an open-world pinball platformer filled with personality, choices to make and fruit to collect.
If you ever wondered what could have happened if Sonic Pinball would have gotten enough attention to get outside of a table scheme, then this game might be just for you. Landing in Mokumana island as the new postmaster, the beetle must traverse through different areas with the help of bumpers attached to the shoulder buttons. Although it’s a platformer at its best, you are not able to jump or many any other moment aside from moving from left to right. Everything else is tied to the pinball-esque gameplay.
Along with all this, the game has a very interesting cast of characters to meet and interact with, knowing more about their lives and obtaining new abilities and power-ups as a reward for helping them. Oh, in case you were wondering, there are boss battles as well.
